Information on Caring For a Newborn Baby
>> Wednesday, June 23, 2010
Sometimes you can read all the books in the world but it can be difficult to process all the information you've taken in. I've written the following article on how to care for a new born baby. I've written it in an easy to read, short and to the point way so that you'll remember the key points without your brain going into over load.
Don't forget that if there are still questions that you haven't asked that midwives and health visitors will help you with anything you need. You'll need the following equipment/ essentials for your new born. I would always recommend purchasing these before the baby arrives so that there is no addition stress in the first days.
• Nappies, sterilising solutions and buckets or tubs
• Nappy rash cream
• Cotton wool, baby lotion and wipes
• Changing mat
• Cot, moses basket, cot sheets and blankets
• Pram
• Clothes
Tips For Taking Care of a Newborn Baby
If you're breast feeding instead of feeding from a bottle you'll need the following things-
• Bibs for the baby
• Muslin squares
• Nursing bras are always a help
• Breast pads
When breast feeding I would always recommend wearing easy access tops to save time.If you have chosen to bottle feed you'll need the following-
Sterilising equipment
Bottles and teats
Bottle brush for cleaning
Newborn formula feed
For the first week or two the midwife will visit you every other day and will continue to for to the first month if you need it. She will be able to answer any questions you may have and will help you with anything you're finding difficult to adapt too. Your health visitor will also come and see you for the first week or two. She'll inform you of postnatal groups or classes you may want to attend to meet other new parents.
